Dental Student wins ICD-WUDAA award

Gabby Ward, Dental Student wins ICD-WUDAA award

Gabby Ward, a fourth-year dental student at the School of Dentistry, has been named one of 18 recipients of the 2025 International College of Dentists–Washington University Dental Alumni Association (ICD-WUDAA) Scholarship. This marks the fifth consecutive year that a School of Dentistry dental student has received the prestigious award.

The ICD-WUDAA Scholarship Program, launched in 2019, recognizes outstanding dental students who demonstrate academic excellence, leadership and commitment to service. This year, a record $45,000 was awarded through the program, with each $2,500 scholarship helping to reduce the financial burden of dental education and empower recipients to continue their professional and humanitarian pursuits.

Originally from Chicago, Illinois, Gabby earned her Bachelor of Science degree in pre-veterinary medicine from Illinois State University in 2022, graduating summa cum laude.

Guided by her passion for service, she has participated in a pediatric dental mission trip to Guatemala and developed a local initiative to improve oral health education for refugee families through the San Antonio Refugee Health Clinic. She also provides compassionate care for patients with special health care needs, an experience that continues to shape her dedication to inclusive, patient-centered dentistry.

Please join the School of Dentistry in congratulating Gabby on this incredible award!
