Maria Jose Cervantes Mendez appointed a departmental chair at the School of Dentistry
The dean of the School of Dentistry, , announced this month that, effective September 1, 2025, , will assume the role of chair of the department of developmental dentistry at 黑料网 School of Dentistry.
Cervantes has been a dedicated faculty member at the School of Dentistry since 2009. Her extensive experience includes directing advanced education in the Pediatric Dentistry Program, overseeing residents at the Pediatric Dental Clinic at the Ricardo Salinas Health Center and the UT Dentistry Laredo Dental Clinic. She is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry and holds leadership roles in the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry.
In her new role, Cervantes will lead the department's mission to advance pediatric and orthodontic care, focusing on early identification, prevention and treatment of oral and craniofacial diseases, particularly in underserved communities.
